First John, First Chapter
There is a running theme throughout the Revelator's writings – that is, the theme of fellowship. His gospel account, from start to finish, focuses on Jesus' interaction with people and their response to him. His letter of Revelations is all about the end times, when Christ comes to reunite with his Bride (us) and take us home. And here, in his shorter letters to the brethren, he emphasizes the communion of the saints with God and with one another. This is all that matters in the end – our relationship with the Lord and how that shines through in our relationships with others. John makes it very clear here, the need for fellowship with brothers and honesty with ourselves concerning our heart condition. These are keys, you see, to growing in our relationship with the Father and the Son. And this is what we were created for, to be in relationship with God. We were never meant to be alone.

In this era, it is so easy to say we walk with Him and yet not act accordingly. It is all about honesty. God understands our plight - as he created us. He only asks that we are honest with Him and only then can we achieve true honesty within ourselves.
ReplyDeleteMan, so true, Jubal! Thanks for reading and sharing these thoughts - great insight!
ReplyDeleteI know the struggle all too well!
ReplyDeleteHere's a nice quote to share with you all! Most def in the spirit of John's message...
ReplyDeletePrayer:
When God does not respond to your prayers, it is because you are not in earnest. If you offer Him dry imitation prayers, you cannot expect to claim the Heavenly Father´s attention. The only way to reach God through prayer is by persistence, regularity, and depth of earnestness. Cleanse your mind of all negation, such as fear, worry, anger; then fill it with thoughts of love, service, and joyous expectation. In the sanctum of your heart there must be enshrined one power, one joy, one peace -- God.
